Breast Lift Procedure
A mastopexy or breast lift is a surgical procedure performed to reshape the breast and return it to a more youthful position. Drooping of the breast may occur after pregnancy as well as aging. Frequently a breast implant may be used in conjunction with a breast lift in order to achieve better results. Depending on the amount of breast lifting that needs to be accomplished, different techniques may be used that involve different incisions. Generally, the more lifting that is required, the larger the incision (and therefore the scar).

Baltimore Climate Baltimore's climate is primarily affected by three factors: its proximity to a warm marine estuary, its low elevation, and the wall of mountains to the west and northwest. These factor's make the area's climate milder and less extreme than other U.S. cities at this latitude. Summers are humid and hot, but not extremely so, with highs reaching the 80-90°F and lows in the 60-70°F. Winters are cool and moist, with highs in the 40-50°F and lows in the 30-40° F. Temperatures in the winter will wander into the high 10°F on a rare occasion, and it is almost never below 10°F in the city proper. Light snow can sometimes fall in winter, although some years there is no significant accumulation and once every 4 or 5 years a coastal storm can dump over 8 inches on the city. Spring and fall bring pleasant temperatures in the 50s-70s(°F), and southern breezes.

Skin graft contraction is a common and intractable problem. The current treatments focus on mechanical opposition of contractile forces using splints and on compression of the grafted skin with pressure garments. For the patients, this causes significant morbidity with restriction of joint mobility and often requires multiple episodes of corrective surgery. Despite 50 years of research in this area, treatment and prevention of graft contraction have progressed very little and understanding of the underlying mechanism remains poor. This article reviews the clinical problem and the approaches used to prevent or treat graft contracture. It also considers to what extent we currently understand the cellular basis of graft contracture, based on in vitro models of skin contraction and in vivo observation of patients.
