Breast Lift Procedure
A mastopexy or breast lift is a surgical procedure performed to reshape the breast and return it to a more youthful position. Drooping of the breast may occur after pregnancy as well as aging. Frequently a breast implant may be used in conjunction with a breast lift in order to achieve better results. Depending on the amount of breast lifting that needs to be accomplished, different techniques may be used that involve different incisions. Generally, the more lifting that is required, the larger the incision (and therefore the scar).

Portugal By bus
Spain/Portugal: ALSA

Portugal By car Roads are generally good, and you can reach almost all major cities with ease, either by motorway or by good, modern roads. The biggest cities are well served by modern highways (most have tolls), and you can travel the full North-South length of the country without ever leaving the highway, if you choose to. However, some secondary roads are ill-treated and may be dangerous if proper care is not taken. Also, Portuguese driving can seem erratic and, frankly, scary to the uninitiated. The country shares with most southern european countries something that the successive Portuguese governments have been trying to fight: terrible road behaviour from some drivers. This is getting a little better year by year, but still, there are many drivers whose dream is to own a Ferrari, but all they actually have is a Renault Clio or a Ford Fiesta, or that think that they can drink and drive without any kind of problem. In order to fight this national calamity, road laws changed recently in order to punish with great severity speeding, driving without license, driving under the influence of alcohol or narcotics, etc.
Plastic Surgery News...
- Trophos SA, a biopharmaceutical company specializing in the discovery and development of drugs for neurological disorders, announced that it recently completed the enrollment of the first 90 patients in a Phase IIa clinical trial of its of lead product, TRO19622.
- The Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health (CADTH) has published a systematic review on the use of telestroke, which they define as “the use of audio (including the telephone), video, and other telecommunications and electronic information processing technologies for the transmission of information and data relevant to the diagnosis and treatment of acute stroke”. Communication can occur between a patient and health care providers or among health care providers.
A systematic review of the literature (limited to publications in English) yielded 22 studies with original data on telestroke modalities assessing health outcomes, cost-effectiveness, patient and provider satisfaction, or process of care, published in a peer-review journal. An environmental scan identified 15 organizations (two in Canada) providing telestroke services.
From their findings, the authors conclude the following (taken from the website summary):
• Telestroke improves access to thrombolysis treatment, which may in turn reduce mortality and serious morbidity post-stroke. A high level of patient satisfaction has been documented with this service.
• Uncertainty remains regarding cost-effectiveness and safety. Conclusions regarding the economic impact and potential harm from telestroke services compared with face-to-face care could not be drawn from the available evidence.
• Opportunities for further understanding exist. The lack of standardized reporting of resources and outcomes precludes comparisons among programs and the determination of best practices.
