Idaho Breast Reduction - The Procedure

Women with very large breasts may suffer from pack pain, skin infections under the breast folds and breathing difficulties. During the operation extra fat, skin and breast tissue are removed and the surgeon designs a smaller breasts according to woman's proportions.
There are two ways to perform breast reduction: one with longer scar or an "anchor" scar, which is the procedure of choice in a case of very large breasts. The surgeon cuts through the nipple down and behind the breast folds. Afterward the surgeon lifts the nipple upward and shapes the breast. The second one is with a smaller scar, which is suitable for a medium size breasts. The cut is made only through the nipple and through the fold. Sometime the extra skin is not fully removed which leaves some skin folds beneath the breasts. Those usually disappear after 3-5 month (in case they persist afterward you might need an additional surgery to remove them).

You could also drive to North Idaho from Seattle or more easily from Spokane.

  • Idaho By car

There are two segments of freeway that cross the state, I-90 for roughly 60 miles across the panhandle in the North, and I-84 for a couple hundred miles in the South (ok, someone pointed out a few miles of I-15 in far Eastern Idaho). The rest of the roads are two lanes, and often curvy and hilly (but scenic!). A few "highways" aren't even paved. You know you're from Idaho when your elderly grandparents think it's normal to arrive at Christmas (or even just for a weekend visit) after driving 400 miles through blizzards and along winding two lane river roads.

To the East, the Continental Divide (West of which rivers flow to the Pacific, East of which rivers flow to the Atlantic) meanders down the spine of the Rockies, and defines the border with Montana. A handful of passes cross the Divide. In the winter, check with the highway department for pass conditions -- many passes are closed from the first snow until mid-April.

  • The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today approved a new medical adhesive (a fibrin sealant) called Artiss for use in attaching skin grafts onto burn patients. Fibrin sealants are tissue adhesives that contain the proteins fibrinogen and thrombin, which are essential in the clotting of blood. Artiss (Fibrin Sealant, VH S/D 4) differs from other fibrin sealants in that it contains a lower concentration of thrombin.

  • The Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB) has published its updated 1997 Report of the Working Party on the prevention of HIV/AIDS, hepatitis B and C and sexually transmitted diseases – a document which examines the place of pharmacists in the fight against these illnesses (see link above). It discusses and updates the main recommendations made in 1997, covering the following: • Display of information in community pharmacies relating to prevention of HIV/AIDS, hepatitis B and C and sexually transmitted diseases, and to the risks associated with intravenous drug use • Signposting to other services – e.g. sexual health services, addiction and substance misuse services, written and internet-based information • Clean needles and syringes exchange schemes (PNEX) • Supply of water for injection by pharmacists • Self-administration of methadone in pharmacies • Education and training for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians on social skills and on the non-medical use of drugs • Role of local pharmaceutical committee (LPC) and Area Pharmaceutical Committee (APC), Area Pharmacy Contractor’s Committees (APCC) in facilitating pharmacists’ involvement in the prevention of HIV/AIDS and other related conditions • Improving liaison between prescribers and community pharmacists – e.g. appointment of drug liaison pharmacist • Promotion of pharmacists’ role in this field and encouragement of research projects which might show the benefits The need for future recommendations in other areas is discussed, and will be considered in any future updated version of the report.
