Chemical Peel Procedure

It's a procedure in which a controlled chemical burn is applied to the skin using chemical solution in order to remove outer layers of the skin. It can remove delicate wrinkles, pigmentation marks and other skin defects. Peeling also has some medical advantages like removal of pre cancerous conditions and acne scars.

The solutions being used are phenol, trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and alphahydroxil acids (AHA).

AHA is used for delicate peeling, it gives you smooth and shine skin, and it also treats delicate wrinkles, acne scars and pigmentation. Several treatments usually required on weekly bases. The solution can also be incorporated into cr?mes or facial wash and can be used on daily bases.

TCA is used for intermediate peeling. It removes wrinkles and superficial skin defects and pigmentation. Usually more then one treatment required and it has longer healing times then AHA. It can be used in whole body parts.

Phenol is the most powerful solution, which is used for deep peeling. It removes deep wrinkles, pre malignant conditions and skin defects due to sun exposure; it also causes brighter skin color. It can be used only in the face area.

It is recommended to use several creams before the peeling to get better results. Retin-A thinners the upper layers of the skin and hydroquinone which bleaches the skin.

The peeling is done by the following techniques: AHA - after the cleaning of the skin the doctor spreads the solution on the skin. It takes 10 minutes, afterwards the doctor gives you instructions how to use this cream for several weeks at home.. During those weeks you'll be invited for check up to follow the progress of peeling.

TCA - usually takes 45 minutes. You may feel a burning sensation which disappears after a few minutes. Second treatments usually done with an interval of a couple of month.

Peeling with phenol lasts 1-2 hours. One treatment usually sufficient. You'll need to cover the face with a bandage or Vaseline cream.

After the treatment with AHA you can immediately return to daily activities, but you must wear sunscreen. TCA causes redness and swelling which disappears during the week, you can return to work after 7-10 days. After the use of phenol skin regeneration usually takes 7-10 days. At first you'll have a very reddish skin that will gradually change to pink color. It is very important to avoid direct sun exposure and use sunscreen to avoid burns and pigmentation.

  • Indonesia Religion

With 82-88% of the population depending on who you ask, Islam is by far the largest religion in Indonesia, making Indonesia the largest Muslim-majority state in the world. Indonesia's brand of Islam is generally quite tolerant and in larger cities headscarves and such visible manifestations of faith are exceptions rather than the rule, although the countryside and the devout state of Aceh can be considerably stricter.

The other state-sanctioned religions are Protestantism (5%), Roman Catholicism (3%), Hinduism (2%) and Buddhism (1%). Hindus are concentrated on Bali, while Christians are found mostly in Sulawesi and East Nusa Tenggara. There are also pockets of animism throughout the country, and many strict Muslims decry the casual Javanese incorporation of animistic rites into the practices of notionally Islamic believers.

  • Indonesia Visas

Dealing with Imigrasi serves as a useful introduction to the Byzantine complexity of Indonesia's bureaucracy. The long and short of it, though, is that most Western travelers can get a visa on arrival for US$10/25 at most common points of entry (Java, Bali, etc), so read on only if you suspect that you don't fit this description.

There are three ways of entering Indonesia:

Visa-free. Show your passport, get stamped, that's it. Applies only to a few select countries, mostly in ASEAN.
Visa on arrival. Pay on arrival, get a visa in your passport, get it stamped, that's it. Most visitors fall in this category.
Visa in advance. You must obtain visa at an Indonesian embassy before arrival.

One peculiarity to note is that visa-free and visa-on-arrival visitors must enter Indonesia via specific ports of entry. Entry via other ports of entry will require a visa regardless of whether you are a visa-free or visa-on-arrival national or otherwise.

Customs in Indonesia is usually quite laid-back. You're allowed to bring in one liter of alcohol, 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars or 100 gm of tobacco products, and a reasonable quantity of perfume. In addition to the obvious drugs and guns, importing pornography and fruit, plants, meat or fish is (technically) prohibited. Indonesia imposes death penalty on those caught bringing in drugs.

  • Researchers at the Tenovus Centre for Cancer Research at Cardiff University have made a breakthrough in breast cancer treatment that could help save the lives of women who become resistant to breast cancer drugs such as tamoxifen.

  • Abstract Background  Abdominoplasty is the most frequent excisional body contour procedure performed in aesthetic surgery. Secondary abdominoplasty refers to a new excisional procedure for a patient who has previously undergone an excisional abdominoplasty. In the authors’ practice, more than 7% of abdominoplasties are secondary cases and deserve special consideration. Methods  The authors present a retrospective analysis of their experience with 21 secondary cases among 298 abdominoplasties performed between 2001 and 2006. They have considered as secondary cases only those involving patients who have undergone excisional abdomen contour surgery previously. Results  A total of 17 patients underwent surgery during the first year after the primary procedure, and 4 patients had surgery more than 5 years after that procedure. Following the principles described in this report, it was possible to solve the problem in each particular case and to obtain improvements in both trunk contour and patient satisfaction. Conclusions  In planning and designing the procedure, a precise diagnosis of the abdominal deformities is essential. The risks in secondary abdominoplasty are similar to those in the primary procedure. Content Type Journal ArticleCategory Original ArticleDOI 10.1007/s00266-008-9135-9Authors P. S.
